Connecting Sentences

You will join sentences into a paragraph with connecting words.

Explanation

Connecting words help your text flow.

• "And" and "also" add an idea.
• "But" shows a difference.
• "Because" gives a reason.
• "Then" shows the order of events.
• "So" shows a result. Read your paragraph aloud. If it sounds like separate pieces, add a connecting word.

Examples

1. I like football, but I also like volleyball.
2. Kazakhstan is famous for boxing because its boxers often win medals.
3. She trains. Then she eats breakfast.

Remember!

• Do not use "and" too many times.
• Use "but" for a difference, not to add an idea.
