Present and Past Simple

What are we learning today?

You will tell about habits with the present simple and about a finished holiday with the past simple.

Explanation

• Use the present simple for habits and facts. Time words: usually, every year.
• Use the past simple for a finished time. Time words: last summer, yesterday.
• Regular verbs add -ed: stay, stayed.
• Some verbs are irregular: go, went; see, saw; eat, ate; take, took.

Examples

1. Camps usually last two or three weeks.
2. We stayed in yurts for three nights.
3. Last summer I went to a camp.

Remember!

• Say "went", not "goed". Say "ate", not "eated".
• Do not mix the tenses in one sentence.
