Finding the Main Idea

What are we learning today?

You will learn to find the main idea of a short text with clues.

Explanation

• The main idea is what the whole text is about.
• Look at the title and the pictures first.
• Read the first and the last sentence.
• Look for words that repeat.
• Use more than one clue. You do not need to know every word.

Examples

1. A post says "lunchtime" and "It's raining". The person is in London at 12.00.
2. A post says "Mum is cooking breakfast". The person is in Rio at 8 am.
3. The main idea of the posts: at the same moment, people are in different parts of the day.

Remember!

• One clue is not enough.
• Do not translate every word.
