Verb Forms: to or -ing

What are we learning today?

You will choose the right verb form after would like, want, let's and love.

Explanation

• After would like and want, use to and a verb: I'd like to play.
• After love, like, hate and don't mind, use a verb with -ing: I love watching sport.
• After Let's, use the plain verb: Let's play football.
• "I like swimming" is a general idea. "I'd like to swim today" is a wish for now.

Examples

1. Would you like to play or watch it?
2. I love watching sport on TV.
3. Let's play football.

Remember!

• Say "Let's play", not "Let's to play".
• Say "want to win", not "want win".
