Giving an Opinion with a Reason

What are we learning today?

You will say what you think and give a reason. You will also agree or disagree politely.

Explanation

• Use "because" to give a reason.
• Say "I would like to..." or "I wouldn't like to..." for jobs.
• Say "I agree" or "I disagree" and give a reason.
• "I like it" is not a good reason. Give a clear reason.
• Be polite when you disagree.

Examples

1. I wouldn't like to be a snake catcher because I'm frightened of snakes.
2. I'd like to be a firefighter because I want to save people.
3. Tigers are dangerous because they are strong and fast.

Remember!

• Always say why. Use "because" and a full reason.
• In my opinion, ... is a good way to start.
