What are we learning today?

You will learn how to write a short text about real events in the past.

Explanation

• Use the past simple: grew up, died, moved.
• Put the events in time order.
• Make a plan: who and when, childhood, important events, work, the end.
• Use time words: when, in 1849, ten years later, after that.

Examples

1. Mary Ann Evans was born in 1819.
2. When she was 16, her mother died.
3. In 1849 she moved to London. Ten years later her first novel appeared. She died in 1880.

• Use the past tense for past events.
• Write only real facts.
