Asking Simple Questions

What are we learning today?

You will ask simple questions to get information.

Explanation

• A yes or no question starts with did: Did your team win?
• A question about the past has this order: question word, did, subject, base verb.
• After did, use the base verb: go, not went.
• Use What, Where, When, Who and How to ask for more information.
• A question ends with a question mark.

Examples

1. Did your team win?
2. Where did you go last summer?
3. How many goals did you score?

Remember!

• Say: What did you do? Do not say: What you did?
• After did, use the base verb.

Check yourself

1. Make a question: "you / go / where / did".
2. Fix this question: "What you did yesterday?"
3. Which verb form follows did: go or went?
