What are we learning today?

You will understand simple questions at once and choose a good answer.

Explanation

• Look at the first word of the question.
• Some questions start with did. They ask about the past.
• Answer them with a short answer: Yes, I did. or No, I didn't.
• Some questions start with a question word, for example When or Who.
• Answer in the same tense as the question.

Examples

1. Did you swim yesterday? Yes, I did.
2. Did the Second World War start in 1929? No, it didn't. It started in 1939.
3. When did the game end last night?

• Find the first word of the question.
• A did question needs a past answer.
• Use a short answer when the question is yes or no.
