You will learn to give short and polite answers in a phone call, even when the question is a surprise.

Explanation

• In a phone call, people can say things you did not plan for.
• Answer with a short, full reply.
• If you need time, say "Just a minute."
• To answer "Have you got ...?", say "Yes, I have." or "No, I haven't."
• You can add one more idea to keep talking.
• Polite replies are: Sure. No problem. Of course.

Examples

1. Can I call you back? - Sure. Talk to you later.
2. Have you got a skateboard? - No, I haven't.
3. Have you got a cat? - No, I haven't, but my brother has.

Remember!

• Use "Yes, I have." or "No, I haven't." for "Have you got ...?"
• Do not stay silent. Say "Just a minute."
• Say goodbye at the end of a call.
