Giving Reasons

What are we learning today?

You will give your opinion and support it with reasons.

Explanation

• An argument has an opinion, a reason and an example.
• Use because to give a reason.
• Use also and for example to link ideas.
• Say your opinion first. Give two reasons. End with your opinion again.

Examples

1. I like dogs because they help people.
2. The Inuit use huskies because the dogs are strong.
3. Huskies are also very good workers.

Remember!

• An opinion needs a reason.
• Do not repeat the same reason in different words.

Check yourself
