Joining Sentences

What are we learning today?

You will join parts of sentences with so, if, when, where, before and after.

Explanation

• So gives a result.
• If gives a condition.
• When tells the time.
• Where tells the place.
• Before and after tell the order.
• Put a comma after the first part when it starts the sentence.
• After when, before and after, use the present for the future.

Examples

1. It was cold, so there weren't many people.
2. We go to bed early, before Dad comes home.
3. When I get back, I'm going to play.

Remember!

• Do not say When I will arrive.
• Before is earlier. After is later.
