Prepositions of Time and Place

What are we learning today?

You will use small words like at, in, on and to for time, place and movement.

Explanation

• Use at with clock times, at night and at the weekend.
• Use in with parts of the day: in the morning, in the afternoon.
• Use on with days and dates: on Saturday, on August 9th.
• Use in with towns and countries: in London.
• For movement, use to, into, out of, from and across.

Examples

1. School starts at 7.30 in the morning.
2. I walk to school.
3. He was born in China on January 31.

Remember!

• Say at 7 o'clock, not in 7 o'clock.
• Say in the morning, not at the morning.
• Say go to the shop, not go the shop.
