Spelling: -ful and Double Letters

What are we learning today?

You will spell words with -ful correctly. You will also spell short adjectives with double letters.

Explanation

• Add -ful to some words to make adjectives: use - useful, colour - colourful.
• The ending -ful has only one l.
• If a word ends in y, change y to i: beauty - beautiful.
• Short adjectives with one vowel and one last consonant double that consonant: big - bigger, red - redder.
• Say a hard word in parts: beau-ti-ful.

• Write beautiful, not beautifull.
• Write grandparents as one word.
