Asking Simple Questions

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to ask simple questions to get information.

Explanation

• Yes/no questions start with Is, Are, Can or Does. Give a short answer.
• Questions with What and Where ask for information. What asks about a thing. Where asks about a place.
• Use Can you ...? or Could you ...? to ask for help politely.
• Use Shall I ...? to offer to do something.
• Ask one question at a time. Listen to the answer.

Examples

1. Is it a very big animal?
2. What does it eat? Where does it live?
3. Can you give me a hand? - Yes, of course.
4. Shall I lay the table?

Remember!

• Use "Shall I" with I, not with he or she.
• Add a detail to your answer. Do not say only "Yes".
