Modal Verbs for Safety

What are we learning today?

You will learn to use "mustn't", "must", "should" and "need to" for safety.

Explanation

• Mustn't means "do not do it".
• Must means you have to do it.
• Should and shouldn't give advice.
• Need to means that something is necessary.
• After must, mustn't and should, use the verb without "to".
• After need, use "to".

Examples

1. They mustn't talk in the cinema.
2. You should study for the exam.
3. You mustn't touch the hot iron. You should use a glove.

Remember!

• Say "He should go", not "He should to go".
• Say "You need to go".
