Verb + -ing or to + Verb

You will learn to choose the right form for the second verb.

Explanation

When two verbs are together, the second verb has a special form.

• After enjoy, finish, stop and don't mind, use the -ing form.
• After want, need, promise and I'd love, use to and the base verb.
• After start, you can use both forms. The meaning is the same.
• Stop + -ing means you finish an action.

Examples

1. It's stopped raining.
2. I need to buy some new shoes.
3. I enjoy skating. I want to learn a new trick.
