What are we learning today?
You will learn to make noun phrases of time and place and to find abstract nouns.
Explanation
A noun phrase is a noun with other words around it.
- For time, use a preposition and a time noun: over the last 30 years, in the last year, a few years ago.
- For place, put the place phrase after the noun: the ground in the forest.
- An adjective comes before the noun: a very unlucky man.
- Abstract nouns name ideas, not things you can touch. Examples are danger, illness and health.
Examples
- In the last week I had a small accident in the school gym.
- Food poisoning is an illness.
- He has had many injuries over the last 30 years.
Remember!
- The adjective is before the noun.
- The time or place phrase is after it.
