What are we learning today?

You will learn to choose the right quantity word for the noun.

Explanation

Look at the noun first.

• For things you can count, use many, a few, fewer and more.
• For things you cannot count, use much, a little, less and more.
• A few and a little mean "some". Few and little without "a" mean "almost none".
• Use "not as many" with things you count and "not as much" with things you cannot count. Compare two things: "I don't have as much homework as you."

Examples

1. There are fewer accidents in winter than in summer.
2. I drink less water than my brother.
3. I've cut my fingers a few times.

Remember!

• Fewer is for things you count.
• Less is for things you cannot count.
