Present Perfect for Experience

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to talk about experience when the exact time is not important.

Explanation

• Form: have or has + past participle.
• Negative: haven't or hasn't + past participle.
• Question: "Have you ever ...?" Short answers: "Yes, I have." and "No, I haven't."
• Words used with the present perfect: ever, never, already.
• Use the past simple for a finished time: yesterday, last week, two weeks ago.

Examples

1. I've visited a lot of countries.
2. Have you ever travelled on a tour bus?
3. I bought a souvenir last week. (past simple, finished time)

Remember!

• Use has with he, she and it. Do not say "she have".
• Do not use the present perfect with "yesterday".
