You will learn to give your opinion and support it with proof from a text.

Explanation

• A good argument has three parts: a claim, evidence and a reason.
• Use I think ... because ....
• Evidence is a detail from the text, for example a short quote.
• In writing, name the paragraph, use the quote, and then explain it.

Examples

1. Claim: It is a mystery story.
2. Evidence: Watson finds a hut and a note. He asks, Who was he?
3. Reason: I think the story is a mystery because nobody knows who the stranger is.

Remember!

• Do not only say what you think.
• Always give evidence and a reason.
