You will use the present simple for habits and the past simple for finished events.

Explanation

• Use the present simple for habits and facts.
• Use the past simple for finished events.
• Regular verbs: stayed, played, arrived.
• Irregular verbs: took, saw, ate, spent.
• For a negative in the past, use "didn't" and the base verb.

Examples

1. We train hard every day.
2. We stayed with a local family for three nights.
3. I didn't understand how a desert can sing.

Remember!

• After "didn't", use the base verb: "I didn't understand".
• Do not use the past simple with "every day".
