Prepositions on Holiday

What are we learning today?

You will use prepositions for place, time and movement when you talk about a holiday.

Explanation

• Place: in a hostel, in a hotel, in a cabin, near the beach.
• Time: for a week, for two weeks. Also: in May, in July, on Monday.
• Travel: by helicopter, by bike.
• Direction: fly to Rio, go down the mountain, from Almaty.
• More direction words: out of, into, towards.

Examples

1. We stayed in a hostel.
2. We stayed for two weeks in a cabin near the lake.
3. She walked towards the lake.

Remember!

• Use "for" with a period of time. Use "in" with a month.
• Say "fly to Rio", not "fly in Rio".
