Reading Sports Texts

What are we learning today?

You will read short true texts about sport. You will find facts, dates, places and names.

Explanation

• A non-fiction text gives true information.
• An FAQ has questions and answers.
• An article has a title, a question for the reader, facts and an invitation at the end.
• A biography tells the story of a person's life.
• An information text can put sports into groups: on land, in the air and on water.
• Read quickly first. Then read again for details.

Examples

1. Why does she race in a wheelchair? This is a question from an FAQ.
2. Mohammed Aman was born in Asella, Ethiopia, on January 10, 1994. This is a fact from a biography.
3. A sports schedule is a non-fiction text.
