Verb + to or -ing

What are we learning today?

You will choose the right form after verbs like want, like and enjoy.

Explanation

• After want, learn, would like and try, use to + verb.
• After love, like, hate, enjoy and go, use verb + -ing.
• Start and begin can use both: She started to race. She started racing.
• After a preposition such as from, use -ing.

Examples

1. Mohammed wants to go to the next Olympics.
2. I'd like to do the hammer throw.
3. She learned to walk on her hands.
4. I went windsurfing for the first time.
5. She started using a wheelchair.

Remember!

• Do not say "I want playing".
• Do not say "I enjoy to run".
• Do not forget to after want.
