Writing a Scene Description

What are we learning today?

You will plan, write and check a short description of an exciting scene.

Explanation

• First, plan. Make notes about the people, the place, the time of day with the colours, and the action.
• Then talk about your scene with classmates. Add the details they ask about.
• Next, write your notes as sentences.
• Last, edit. Read your text again. Add a missing detail, take out repeated words, and check spelling and punctuation.

Examples

1. Notes: a boy / a forest / dusk, grey and green / he hears a noise.
2. Text: It was dusk. The forest was grey and green. Suddenly the boy heard a noise.

• Always make notes before you write.
