What are we learning today?

You will read about schools in different countries. You will find differences and talk about them with respect.

Explanation

• Read about a country. Find one new fact. Compare it with your country.
• In the UK, lessons finish at about 3.30 pm.
• In Kazakhstan, children start primary school at six or seven. A lesson in secondary school is 45 minutes.
• In the USA, there is a big party at the end of the last year. It is called the senior prom.

Examples

1. In Kazakhstan the day has five or six lessons, but in the UK lessons end at about 3.30 pm.
2. Riley lives 300 km from school, so he studies online.
3. In the USA children start elementary school at six, but in the UK they start at four or five.
