Answering Unexpected Questions

What are we learning today?

You will answer questions you did not plan for. You will answer with full sentences.

Explanation

• Do not answer only "No". Add a second sentence with extra information.
• Be polite. Start a question with "Excuse me."
• If you do not understand, you can say: "Could you say that again?"
• If you do not know, say: "Sorry, I don't know."

Examples

1. Was David at the zoo? No, he wasn't. He was at a farm.
2. Excuse me. How do I get to the frog exhibit? Walk down this hall.
3. Thank you very much. You're welcome.

Remember!

• Use the right verb in the short answer: "No, he wasn't."
• Keep the conversation going.
