Reading Fiction and Non-fiction

What are we learning today?

You will read short fiction and non-fiction texts.

Explanation

• Non-fiction gives facts and numbers.
• Fiction tells a story. It has a narrator, a place and feelings.
• Look at the title and the pictures first.
• Read quickly the first time. Do not stop at every new word.
• Read again and do the tasks. Use the glossary for hard words.

Examples

1. A giraffe has only seven bones in its neck. (fact)
2. The Inuit hunt seals, polar bears and reindeer. (fact)
3. When I got to the top of the hill the sun was already going down. (story)

Remember!

• Do not stop at each unknown word.
• Do not look for numbers in a story.
