Joining Sentences

What are we learning today?

You will learn to join two short sentences with and, but and because.

Explanation

• Use "and" to add an idea.
• Use "but" to show a contrast.
• Use "because" to give a reason.
• Use "so" to show a result.
• Put a comma before "but".
• Read your sentence aloud to check it.

Examples

1. My dad is tall and he has green eyes.
2. My cousin is older than me, but I'm taller.
3. I like Diwali because it's a festival of lights.

Remember!

• Use "but" for contrast, not "and".
• Do not use "because" and "so" together.
