Understanding Long Conversations

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to follow a longer conversation from the beginning to the end.

Explanation

• A long conversation has three parts: a beginning, a middle and an end.
• Beginning: someone asks something.
• Middle: the details and the reason.
• End: a decision or thanks.
• Note who speaks. Listen for numbers, times and names.
• Do not stop after the first answer.

Examples

1. Can we go to the cinema? - No. - Why not? - Because ... - Can we go on Saturday? - Yes, you can. - Great, thanks!
2. The school day starts at 9 am. Listen for the finishing time.
3. Tobilay: In the evening she does her homework and writes in her diary.
