What are we learning today?
You will learn to find what a speaker thinks and why the speaker thinks it.
Explanation
- An opinion is what a person thinks. A fact is not an opinion.
- Listen for the opinion words and for the reason.
- The word "because" gives the reason.
- Some phrases show how sure the speaker is.
- A happy tone of voice can show a positive opinion.
Examples
- "My role model is a teacher because her lessons are interesting."
- "She definitely works with animals." The speaker is sure.
- "I reckon she's a vet." The speaker thinks so. "That's possible." The speaker is not sure.
Remember!
