Understanding a Story in a Talk

What are we learning today?

You will learn to follow a story that you hear and to remember the main events.

Explanation

• A story has a beginning, a middle and an end.
• The beginning tells you who, where and when.
• The middle tells you what happened.
• The end tells you the result.
• Listen for time words. They show the order of events.

Examples

1. First, a giant rock closed the mine.
2. Then the rescue workers made many holes.
3. Finally, the first man came out alive.

Remember!

• Make notes: who, what, when, result.
• Do not try to write down every word.
