What are we learning today?

You will learn adverbs of manner. They tell how an action is done.

Explanation

• Most adverbs are adjective + -ly: quiet - quietly, slow - slowly.
• If the adjective ends in -y, change y to i: happy - happily, easy - easily.
• Some adverbs are irregular: good - well. Fast and hard stay the same.
• Put the adverb after the verb or after the object.
• Do not use an adjective after an action verb.

Examples

1. She opened the door quietly.
2. He speaks English well.
3. He ran fast.

Remember!

• Say "well", not "goodly". Say "fast", not "fastly".
• Say "She sings beautifully", not "She sings beautiful".
