Finding Specific Information

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to find one fact in a short text.

Explanation

Do not read every word. Find the key word in the question. Then look for it in the text. Look for a word with the same meaning, too. Some exercises have three choices: Right, Wrong or Doesn't say.

• Choose Right if the text says the same.
• Choose Wrong if the text says something different.
• Choose Doesn't say if the text says nothing about it.

Always find the sentence that proves your answer.

Examples

1. The text says Riley's school is 300 km away. "Riley lives near his school" is Wrong.
2. The text says nothing about Riley's pets. The answer is Doesn't say.
3. Underline the key word, then find the same idea in the text.

• Answer from the text, not from what you know.
• Scan the text. Do not read it slowly word by word.
