Конспект
What are we learning today?
You will describe general facts with "if". You will also use "where", "before" and "after" in sentences.
Explanation
- Use "if" + present simple, then the present simple. This shows general truths.
- "Where" gives a place: This is the wood where deer live.
- "Before" and "after" join two events.
- Do not use "will" in the "if" part.
- You can swap the two parts. Use a comma only when the "if" part is first.
Examples
- If you heat ice, it melts.
- After you go through the gate, shut it.
- He made commercials before he directed a film.
Remember!
- Say "If it rains", not "If it will rain".
- "Before" means earlier. "After" means later.
Check yourself
- Complete: If you mix red and blue, you ___ purple. (get / gets)
- In "He made commercials before he directed a film", which event came first?
