Joining Parts of Sentences

What are we learning today?

You will join two parts of a sentence. You will use "so", "if", "when", "where", "before" and "after".

Explanation

• "So" shows a result.
• "If" shows a condition.
• "When" shows the time.
• "Where" shows a place.
• "Before" and "after" show the order of events.
• After "when", "if", "before" and "after", use the present simple.
• Put a comma if the "when" or "if" part comes first.

Examples

1. You should do more exercise if you want to get fit.
2. When the sun goes down, it gets cold.
3. This is the wood where we saw deer.

Remember!

• Do not say "when I will go". Say "when I go".
• Use "so" for a result, not for a reason.
