Конспект

What are we learning today?

You will use adverbs to say how often and when things happen. You will also make adverbs with -ly.

Explanation

  • Many adverbs end in -ly: luckily, unfortunately, immediately.
  • Make them from adjectives: general - generally, usual - usually.
  • Usually and normally have the same meaning.
  • Frequency adverbs are always, usually, normally, often, sometimes and never.
  • Put them before the main verb. Put them after be.
  • Compare adverbs: fast - faster, early - earlier, well - better.
  • Time words for the past: yesterday, last night, last week, three hours ago.

Examples

  1. She usually gets up before 7 am.
  2. She is always tired.
  3. Luckily, we won the match.
  4. I went to the match last night.

Remember!

  • Say "last night". Do not say "yesterday night".
  • Say "fast". Do not say "fastly".

Check yourself

  1. Make an adverb from the adjective typical.
  2. Where does always go in a sentence with be?
