Answering Simple Questions

What are we learning today?

You will understand simple questions and answer them in full sentences.

Explanation

First, find the question word. It tells you what to answer.

• Who asks about a person.
• What asks about a thing.
• How, where and when ask about the way, the place and the time.
• Did starts a yes or no question.

Then find the sentence in the text. Then answer in a full sentence.

Examples

1. Who was Watson looking for? Watson was looking for the stranger.
2. Did he find a note? Yes, he did.
3. Where was Watson? He was in a stone hut on the moor.

Remember!

• Underline the question word first.
• Answer Did questions with a short Yes or No answer.
