What are we learning today?

You will learn to see what the author thinks. You will find opinion words in a short text.

Explanation

• An author shows an opinion with words like great, brilliant, boring and terrible.
• Phrases like I think, I love and I'm terrible at also show an opinion.
• A fact can be checked. An opinion is a feeling.
• An exclamation mark (!) often shows a strong feeling.

Examples

1. I'm terrible at singing! This is negative.
2. The school's got a fantastic theatre! This is positive.
3. The school has 40 teachers. This is a fact.

Remember!

• Look for words that show feelings.
• Do not mix up a fact and an opinion.
