When Clauses

What are we learning today?

You will be able to say when something happens with a when-clause.

Explanation

• A when-clause tells the time of an action.
• Use the same tense in both parts.
• Habit: use the present simple in both parts.
• Finished action: use the past simple in both parts.
• If when comes first, put a comma after the clause.
• If when comes second, do not use a comma.

Examples

1. When I get up, I wash my face.
2. When we visited the museum, we saw a map.
3. We play football when it is sunny.
