Will and Going To

What are we learning today?

You will learn to talk about the future. You will say what may happen and what you plan to do.

Explanation

• Use will for a prediction. Use will with I think, I'm sure and maybe.
• Form: will + the base verb. The negative is won't.
• Use am, is or are + going to + verb for a plan. Use it with tomorrow, this weekend and next year.
• Question with will: Will it be cold?
• Question with going to: Is he going to win?

Examples

1. We think he'll do really well!
2. Kazakhstanis will not be disappointed.
3. I'm going to train every day this summer.
4. We are going to play a match on Saturday.

Remember!

• Will is for predictions. Going to is for plans.
• Do not say "will to win". After will, use the verb only.
• Do not forget am, is or are before going to.
