Asking Simple Questions

What are we learning today?

You will learn to ask simple questions to get information.

Explanation

• A yes/no question starts with a helper word: Is it big? Can it swim? Does it live in water?
• Answer: Yes, it is. No, it isn't.
• A wh- question starts with a question word: Where do you think they live?
• Word order: helper word + subject + verb.
• Listen to each answer. Use it to ask the next question.

Examples

1. Is it a very big animal? - No, but it has long legs.
2. Does it eat plants? Can it run fast?
3. Where do you think the people live?

Remember!

• Say "Is it big?", not "It is big?"
• Ask one question at a time.
• Where asks about a place.
