Retelling a Story

What are we learning today?

You will learn to retell a story in the right order.

Explanation

• Put the events in order.
• Use words like first, then, after that and finally.
• Use the past simple for events that happened. Use the present simple for things that happen every year.
• Tell the story in the third person: he, she, they.
• Do not skip the end of the story.

Examples

1. In spring, the fishermen return with whale meat. Then people make a big blanket. They throw a dancer into the air. After that, they throw sweets to the children.
2. In the Ice Hotel, the room was minus five degrees.
3. In the treehouse, there was no electricity, so there was no TV.

Remember!

• Keep the order of events.
• Do not mix two stories.
• Do not retell in the first person.
