Opinion with a Reason

What are we learning today?

You will learn to say what you think and to give a reason.

Explanation

• Use prefer to say your choice: I prefer houses.
• Use because to give a reason: I prefer houses because they have more space.
• You can add a second reason: and we can have a garden.
• Use comparatives for reasons: bigger, quieter, warmer.
• To agree, say: Me too. To disagree, say: I don't agree because ...

Examples

1. I prefer flats because they are near shops.
2. One of the best things is the weather.
3. I prefer winter because I love skating.

Remember!

• Never give an opinion without a reason.
• Say "I prefer winter to summer", not "I prefer than".
• Short adjectives take -er: bigger, not "more big".
