Конспект

What are we learning today?

You will give advice, talk about possible danger and say what is forbidden or necessary.

Explanation

  • After should, might and mustn't, use the verb without to.
  • Should gives advice: You should wear a helmet.
  • Might shows something is possible: You might burn your hand.
  • Mustn't means it is forbidden.
  • Need to means it is necessary: I need to rest.
  • Don't have to means it is not necessary.

Examples

  1. You should wear a helmet when you ride a bike.
  2. You mustn't run on ice.
  3. I need to rest.

Remember!

  • Mustn't and don't have to are not the same.
  • Do not add -s: he should, not "he shoulds".

Check yourself

  1. Which word gives advice: should or mustn't?
  2. Is "You should to rest" correct?
