Two Verbs Together

What are we learning today?

You will choose between -ing and to when one verb follows another.

Explanation

• After some verbs, use the -ing form: stop, enjoy, finish, mind, love.
• After other verbs, use to + verb: learn, hope, want, need, would like.
• Learn the verbs in lists.

Examples

1. I haven't stopped working on the farm.
2. I would love to go, but I can't.
3. I enjoy swimming and I want to learn to dive.

Remember!

• Say enjoy swimming, not "enjoy to swim".
• Say I want to learn, not "I want learning".
• Say I would like to go.
