Questions in Different Tenses

What are we learning today?

You will learn to ask questions about the present and the past.

Explanation

• Put the question word first: what, where, when, who, why, how.
• Then put the helper word, the subject and the verb.
• Present: use does. Where does she live?
• Past with be: use was or were. Was the show good?
• Past with other verbs: use did. After did, the verb has no ending. What did you eat yesterday?

Examples

1. Where does he live?
2. Were you at school? - No, we weren't.
3. Did he win? - Yes, he did.

Remember!

• After did, use the base verb: Did you go? Not "Did you went?"
• Do not forget does: Where does he live?
• Use were with you, not was.
