Конспект
What are we learning today?
You will use adverbs to say how, when or where something happens.
Explanation
- Adverbs of manner often end in -ly: quickly, luckily.
- Some adverbs are different: fast, hard and well.
- Adverbs of frequency are always, usually, often, sometimes and never. They go before the main verb: "I often go to the zoo."
- Time words for the past are yesterday and last week.
- To compare, use more with -ly adverbs (more quickly). Add -er to short ones (faster).
Examples
- Elephants move their ears backwards and forwards.
- She usually gets up before 7 am.
- I went to the cinema yesterday.
Remember!
- Say "well", not "goodly".
- Do not say "He runs quick". Say "He runs quickly."
- Put often before the main verb.
Check yourself
- Make an adverb from quick.
- Which is correct: "I go often to the zoo" or "I often go to the zoo"?
