Countable and Uncountable Nouns

What are we learning today?

You will learn the difference between things you can count and things you cannot count. You will also use "on", "in" and "at" with time and place.

Explanation

• You can count some nouns: one club, two clubs.
• You cannot count other nouns, like music, homework and water.
• These nouns have no plural. Say "music", not "musics".
• Use "some" or "a lot of" with them: a lot of homework.
• Use "on" with days, "in" with parts of the day and "at" with home and school.

Examples

1. I have a lot of homework.
2. We have a guitar club on Thursdays.
3. I practise in the afternoon and I am at home.

Remember!

• Do not say "a music" or "homeworks".
• on + day, in + part of the day, at + home or school.
