Конспект
What are we learning today?
You will learn how to find out what each speaker thinks.
Explanation
- An opinion is what a person thinks. It is not always a fact.
- Read the sentences before you listen.
- Listen for opinion phrases: I think, I'd prefer, I love, I don't want, I hope.
- Make a table with the name and the opinion.
- Check that you have one name for each sentence.
Examples
- "I'd prefer to use the land for something else." This is a preference.
- "Do you really think it will work?" This shows doubt.
- "I hope the old shops will stay open." This shows hope.
Remember!
- Write the speaker's opinion, not your own.
- Listen to the whole opinion, not one word.
Check yourself
- Which phrase shows a preference?
- What do you do before you listen?
